Neglected Basal Cell Skin Cancer
This skin cancer was neglected, but it does serve as a good example of what can happen if Basal cell skin cancers are not treated with some degree of respect. It is rare to see a basal cell cancer of this size because most are treated long before. Keep in mind that even though the risk for spread to other organs is low, this is a cancer and does have uncontrolled growth. Cancer “roots” can spread under the skin without visible appearance on the surface later breaking down in a large ulcer. So if someone tells you “oh it’s just a little basal cell skin cancer you don’t need treatment” think again.
